Add Your Body‑Worn Camera Transcript to a Report with Video Insights
TRULEO’s Video Insights feature makes it easier to transform body‑worn camera (BWC) transcripts into polished reports. The process is integrated into the Field Notes interface and uses artificial‑intelligence to summarize BWC footage.
Overview of the Workflow
-
Click "Add BWC Video Insights" in the Digital Notepad. This will open the "Add BWC Video Insights" window
-
Confirm the correct call. Select the needed call from the left side-bar list that shows the officer's name, date of the call, and any event tags
-
Add to Field Note. Once you have reviewed the Summary and confirmed the correct call, you can click the "Add to Field Note" button to generate the video insights and add them to the current Field Note
-
Review in the Digital Notepad. Click on the Video in the Attachments section to review the Video Insights and the video itself

The following sections walk through each step in more detail.
1. Open Field Notes and identify the call
-
Launch Field Notes and select the Add BWC Video Insights menu. This menu lists all body‑camera calls associated with your agency.
-
Search for the call you want to report on. You can identify the correct call by filtering or scanning for the officer’s name and the date/time of the incident.

The Add BWC Video Insights menu displays a list of calls with officer names and timestamps, making it easy to locate the relevant incident.
2. Verify the call details
-
Select the call from the list. The system opens the call in a split‑screen view: the top of the screen shows the BWC video and summary, while the bottom shows the BWC itself
-
Review the summary. The tutorial notes that, when you select a call, the body‑camera video and a summary appear to help confirm that you have chosen the correct call transcript. Make sure the summary matches the incident you intend to document (e.g., date, key actions and participants).
3. Generate Video Insights
-
Click the “Add to Field Note” button. This button is available in the Add BWC Video Insights menu in the upper right corner. When you select it, TRULEO analyses the BWC transcript and extracts key events, actions and observations. According to the demonstration, you should press the button once you have confirmed the correct call and are ready to create a summary.
-
Wait for processing. The system may take a few moments to process the transcript. Once complete, the Video Insights tab will automatically open.
4. Review and edit your report
After video insights have been generated, the interface updates to show a detailed summary and your digital notepad. This is where you can refine the report:
-
Review the AI‑generated summary. The Video Insights tab lists numbered bullet points summarising the incident (e.g., type of incident, scene assessment, equipment deployed and outcomes). This summary is automatically derived from the BWC transcript.
-
Add your own notes. Enter primary details in the Digital Notepad. Include information such as additional observations, names of involved parties and any clarifications not captured by the AI.
-
Choose a report format and generate a narrative. The tutorial emphasizes that once video insights are added, all that remains is to add your details, choose a Template and generate the narrative. The system will then update the enhanced narrative and produce a polished report.

Tips for Effective Use
-
Verify the summary before generating the report. Ensure that the AI‑generated bullet points accurately reflect the events captured in the body‑camera footage. If something is missing or incorrect, note it in the digital notepad.
-
Use clear and specific notes. The quality of the final narrative depends on the information you provide. Include dates, times, participant names and key actions.
-
Choose the appropriate template. TRULEO offers different report templates. Select the template that best meets your department’s reporting requirements before generating the final narrative.
Summary
TRULEO’s Video Insights simplifies the process of converting body‑worn camera transcripts into structured reports. By locating the call in Field Notes, confirming the correct footage, generating video insights and adding your own details, you can quickly produce a detailed narrative that captures the key elements of an incident. The feature streamlines report writing and ensures that critical information from body‑camera footage is accurately documented
