Jail call briefings in Analyst

Jail call briefings turn your agency's jail call recordings into structured, repeatable reports — generated against a template, organized as tabs, and fully navigable by citation and timestamp.

Managed briefing templates

When a jail call briefing runs, TRULEO checks which briefing templates apply and generates one report per matching template, so you get one tab per template instead of a single one-size-fits-all report. Templates come in two flavors:

  • Managed templates — TRULEO-owned and shared across your agency, such as Jail Call Analysis - General.
  • Individualized templates — templates you or a teammate created for a specific need, such as an Inmate Hotlist.

If you have your own customized version of a template your agency also has, your version is the one that appears — you won't see a duplicate.

If your department creates a briefing template with the same name as a TRULEO managed template, the department version runs instead of the managed one. In the Template Library, it's marked with a badge. Hover the badge to see "Used instead of the TRULEO [template name] template."

Navigating a briefing report

Longer briefing reports include a table of contents in the sidebar. Inmate names appear there with their own visual hierarchy, so you can jump straight to a specific inmate's section.

Citations inside the report body are clickable — clicking one opens the source recording in a preview dialog and seeks the player straight to the cited moment. Inside that preview, the transcript view itself is also clickable: click any timed segment to seek the player to that point.

Searching within a briefing

Briefing reports can run long. Click the search icon (or press Ctrl+F while viewing the report) to open an inline search bar. It highlights every match in the report and shows a count, and you can step through matches using the up/down arrows or Enter/Shift+Enter.

Best practices

  • Use in-report search instead of scrolling when you're looking for a specific inmate, date, or keyword in a long briefing
  • Click a citation rather than re-listening from the start — it jumps the player to the exact cited moment
  • If your agency's managed template doesn't fit a recurring need, create your own individualized template rather than editing the shared one
