TruAssist Overview
TruAssist is TRULEO’s conversational AI for law‑enforcement, acting as a virtual dispatcher and research assistant.
What is TruAssist?
TruAssist is TRULEO’s conversational AI for law‑enforcement. It acts like a virtual dispatcher and research assistant that officers can interact with by voice or text. The system ties into CAD/RMS data, policies and statutes, so users can look up addresses, people or vehicles, pull call history, or ask about local laws while en‑route. It also offers anonymous wellness assessments and follows a zero data retention policy to protect privacy.
Key functionalities

Virtual Intelligence & records‑search
-
Call history & person/vehicle details – TruAssist acts like a virtual dispatcher by searching CAD/RMS data for recent calls, officer notes, incident summaries, aliases, prior incidents and vehicle information, ensuring officers arrive informed. For example, it described past domestic‑disturbance calls at a location, noted the presence of children and a dog, and pointed out that the suspect owned two firearms.
-
Policy & statute answers – The assistant instantly searches departmental policies and state statutes so officers get clear, reliable answers without sifting through manuals.
-
Report generation & voice input – TruAssist prompts officers for missing information, captures dictation and builds a complete narrative. It also supports voice‑generated reports and policy uploads.
-
Wellness & anonymous support – Officers can ask for sleep or stress‑management tips. Conversations and wellness assessments are anonymous and not retained.
-
Leadership analytics – Supervisors receive summaries of report quality, call volume, use of force and performance trends to support briefings and accreditation.
How it works
-
Upload policies (optional) – Departments can add PDF policies to the system.
-
Ask a question – Officers speak or type a query about an address, person, vehicle, policy or wellness topic.
-
Receive a summary – TruAssist searches CAD/RMS, policies or statutes and returns a concise answer, citing sources when needed.
-
Iterate – Follow‑up questions refine the response or branch into additional answers. Leadership dashboards aggregate trends for supervisors.
Use case with example
1. Preparing for a call
Prior to arrival, an officer asks whether there have been recent incidents at 123 Elm St. TruAssist searches the CAD/RMS and replies with a summary noting three prior calls and highlighting a domestic disturbance on June 1 2024.

2. Requesting more details about a person
When the officer asks for more information on the male occupant, TruAssist supplies his name, age, alias, prior incidents and vehicle information, plus behavioural notes. This intelligence helps officers anticipate risks and plan their approach.

3. Seeking guidance on procedure and wellness
During a domestic arrest the officer asks what to do with children at the scene. TruAssist cites the relevant statute and advises involving Child Protective Services or arranging temporary custody. When the officer later asks for sleep tips, the assistant shifts seamlessly to wellness, recommending a consistent sleep schedule and reducing screen time.

Privacy and security
TruAssist is FBI CJIS compliant and hosted in the U.S.. Its Zero Data Retention policy means conversations and wellness assessments are not stored or used to train AI models, so officers can ask sensitive questions without fear of oversight.
Citations & Transparency
TruAssist provides clickable citations with its answers. A 2025 product update explains that every response now includes links that open the relevant statute or policy page. When officers ask, for example, how to handle children during an arrest, TruAssist displays a “Sources” section with links to the exact pages in the Texas State Statutes used to craft the answer. This lets users verify the advice and promotes accountability.

Summary
TruAssist is a multi‑purpose AI assistant for law‑enforcement that delivers real‑time situational awareness from CAD/RMS, answers policy and legal questions, generates reports and supports officer wellness. Agencies can start with basic policy queries and add CAD or body‑camera integration as needed. With CJIS‑compliant hosting and zero‑data‑retention, it aims to make officers safer, more informed and more efficient.
