Upload ZIP Files to a Report or Case in TRULEO

TRULEO supports uploading ZIP archives directly into reports or cases

Instead of manually extracting files on your computer, you can drag and drop a ZIP package into the upload dialog and TRULEO will handle the rest. The system encrypts the upload, extracts each file and attaches them individually to your report or case, saving time and preserving security.

Key steps

  • Open the attachments section – In a Field Notes report or case, navigate to the attachments area. In Field Notes, click the Add File button to open the Upload Field Note File pop‑up. For cases, a similar Upload Files button appears.
  • Select your ZIP file – Drag and drop the ZIP archive into the upload area or click to select it from your device. Individual files can be up to 5 GB, as noted in the upload dialog. All uploads are encrypted using FIPS‑140‑3‑compliant SSL/TLS protocols for security.
  • Start the upload – Click Start Upload to begin processing. TRULEO automatically extracts each document from the ZIP archive and queues them for processing. Larger files may take several minutes—up to about 30 minutes—depending on size.
  • Wait for processing – While TRULEO extracts and scans the files, you’ll see a message indicating that the ZIP is being processed.
  • View the extracted files – Once the upload is complete, each extracted file appears in the attachments list for your report or case. You can open, download or reference each document individually.

Example workflow

An officer needs to attach a large evidence package consisting of photos and PDFs to a general report. In the Field Notes interface, they open the attachments section and click Add File, which brings up the Upload Field Note File pop‑up. They drag a ZIP archive containing the evidence into the dialog. The window confirms that the file is within the 5‑GB limit and that the upload is encrypted. After clicking Start Upload, TRULEO processes the ZIP, extracts each photo and document and encrypts them. A status message indicates that the upload may take a few minutes. Once complete, every extracted file appears individually in the attachments list. The officer can now open each document, reference them in their narrative and add the report to the case.

Summary

Uploading ZIP files in TRULEO simplifies evidence management. By dragging a ZIP archive into the upload dialog, you can add dozens of documents at once without manual extraction. TRULEO encrypts the upload, extracts the contents and places each file in your report or case attachments. This process preserves security, handles large packages up to 5 GB and ensures that all supporting evidence is easily accessible.
