What is a connector?

A connector is the link between TRULEO and one of your existing systems — your records management system (RMS), body-worn camera (BWC) platform, jail-call provider, or evidence system. Once a connector is in place, data flows into TRULEO automatically instead of being uploaded by hand. This article explains what connectors are and how to get one set up.

What a connector does

A connector lets TRULEO pull from a system your agency already uses, for example:

  • RMS — Tyler Technologies, Enterprise Records, and other records systems
  • BWC — body-worn camera platforms such as 10-8, GETAC, Axon, and Utility
  • Jail calls — providers such as Paytel and Securus
  • Evidence — evidence.com case imports

With a connector configured, footage, calls, and case files appear in TRULEO automatically — no manual upload step.

How to set one up

Connectors are set up with help from TRULEO — your IT team doesn't have to build anything alone.

  1. Identify the system you want to connect (RMS name, BWC platform, jail-call provider, or evidence system).
  2. Contact your TRULEO representative or support@truleo.co to start the connector.
  3. TRULEO confirms what's needed — typically an API connection, credentials, or an on-premise agent depending on the system.
  4. TRULEO configures and tests the connector with your IT contact, then enables the data flow.

Free trial vs. paid connectors

  • Free trials use a set of standard, ready-to-go connectors so you can get started quickly.
  • Paid and pilot accounts can add custom connectors (such as a specific RMS). These are scoped during the sales/onboarding process.

What your IT team should have ready

  • The name and version of the system being connected
  • Admin or API access to that system, or a contact who has it
  • For on-premise systems, a Windows machine that can run the TRULEO desktop agent

Best practices

  • Start the connector conversation early in onboarding — some integrations need IT coordination.
  • Have one IT point of contact who can grant access and answer technical questions.
  • If you're not sure a system can connect, ask — TRULEO supports a wide and growing list of RMS, BWC, and jail-call platforms.
