TRULEO Analyst: AI-Powered Case Review and Report Generation for Investigators
TRULEO Analyst is an AI assistant for investigators — upload case files, generate structured reports, and surface key details without manual review.
Accessing Analyst
Log into TRULEO and select Analyst from the top navigation. The workspace has three sections: a left panel listing your cases, a center panel with files, evidence, and reports, and a right panel with the AI chat interface.
Browsing your cases
The Analyst index shows your cases organized across three tabs:
- Cases — individual investigation packages
- Records — generated reports and case summaries
- Briefings — multi-case briefing packages

Creating a new case
- Click Analyze New Case in the left cases panel
- Follow the step indicator: Get started → Upload → Case or DR number → Processing → Overview
- Upload case materials (reports, statements, audio/video, images, transcripts)
- The system indexes your files and begins processing automatically
For a quick start, click Try with sample files in the upload step — Analyst loads sample documents and auto-generates a case summary so you can explore the workflow before uploading your own files.

Adding evidence to an existing case
- Select a case from the left panel
- Click Upload Files & Evidence in the Files & Evidence tab
- The system automatically indexes uploaded materials
Renaming documents
Click any document title in the Files & Evidence tab to edit it inline. Renaming files makes reports and citations easier to read.
Document preview
Click any document row to preview both processed and pending files directly in a preview dialog — no need to download or leave the case.
Processing Files
Uploaded files that are still being processed appear in a Processing Files section above your ready documents. Click the section header to collapse it once files finish processing.
Analyst chat
The right panel lets investigators ask questions about the case in natural language — request summaries, identify witnesses, draft narratives, flag specific details, or ask follow-up questions.
Suggested follow-ups: After Analyst responds, it surfaces categorized follow-up actions grouped by type (report generation, investigation steps, supervisor actions). Suggestions update as the case progresses — once a report type already exists, Analyst won't suggest creating a duplicate.
A Supervisor Briefing option appears in follow-up suggestions when appropriate, letting investigators quickly generate a command-level summary.

Document citations in chat
When Analyst references a specific document, clicking the citation link opens that document in the preview dialog. External links open in a new tab.
Report generation
- Select relevant files using checkboxes in the Files & Evidence tab
- Choose a report template from the dropdown
- Click Generate Report
- Review and edit the draft in the TRULEO Reports tab
- Click Download and choose PDF (.pdf) or Word (.docx)
Reports saved from Analyst conversations include a Citations section listing the source documents referenced.

Case sharing and lifecycle
The Share button in the header manages access to the case. Cases can be reopened at any time to add files or generate additional report versions.
Best practices
- Upload all relevant materials before generating reports
- Use descriptive case names for easy retrieval
- Select only files pertinent to the specific report
- Use follow-up suggestions to explore angles you might miss
- Review generated reports for accuracy and departmental policy compliance before distributing
